5th video-summary (e.s.) -141 DAYS documentary-
141 days is a documentary that portrays the creation of a political party from the ground up. It focuses on the social mobilization that took place after the demonstrations of July 10th 2010 in Barcelona (10J).
Millions poured onto the streets to demand their own Catalan State. The Spanish Constitutional Courts had undermined the autonomy bill democratically approved by the civil society.
After the demonstrations on 10J, Joan Laporta, former president of the F.C. Barcelona, received Alfons López Tena and Uriel Bertran. They were both well known in the Catalan political landscape and had just parted ways with their respective parties with the intent to support the social claim voiced on 10J.
Laporta, López Tena and Bertran decided to create “Solidaritat Catalana per la Independència“, a political party that sought to carry on with the spirit of the Barcelona demonstrations. Their idea was crystal clear: To declare the Catalan State within the European Union.
Thousands of people joined the new political idea and volunteered to work to regain the Catalan freedom.
“141 days” is the time it took this movement to win a place at the Catalan Parlament given that elections were held on November 28, 2010 (28N).
The documentary “141 days” shows the work, illusion and effort of the thousands of Catalans that worked tirelessly to propel “Solidaritat Catalana per la Independència“ into the Parlament so it would be able to, unilaterally, declare the independence of Catalonia within the European Union.
“141 days” will be presented in 2011. Until then, we will be launching “teasers”. Be the first to watch them. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter
